Dear Members
With the increasing impact of Coronavirus on our lives it is important that as a tennis club we follow the government and LTA guidelines. The LTA are updating these on their website daily with links to the government advice. The LTA updates can be found here:
https://www . lta . org . uk/about-us/tennis-news/news-and-opinion/general-news/2020/march/coronavirus-covid-19—latest-advice/
In summary at time of writing:
The LTA implemented an immediate suspension of the activity it delivers, with this suspension now in place for the foreseeable future. This includes all LTA organised training sessions, training courses and competitions.
All those involved in tennis in Britain, including tennis venues and coaches, are advised to follow Government advice, referring to the latest information and the guidance issued.
While the LTA has suspended its organised activity, the Government have currently indicated that recreational exercise that takes place at a safe distance from others and in safe exercise environments is something that can continue during this period.
Based on this at the moment members will have continued access to use the courts when they wish. We will also continue with the seniors session & Club night will start again during the coming weeks unless the guidelines change. Please can players follow government guidelines on social distancing (currently 2m), no shaking hands and please wash your hands before and after you play.
We also advise those over 70 ,those who are pregnant and those with underlying medical conditions from using the courts in the presence of other people. Can all members respect this if you turn up to play and please wait at a suitable distance until the courts are free.
The pavilion will be closed for socialising although access to the toilets will be provided.
At this stage coaching is suspended as Richard Hopp is self isolating as a precaution. Further information on Coaching will follow.
