Court resurfacing

Hi News,

We’re pleased to report the planned court resurfacing will start on Monday 18th September.  The courts are unlikely to be ready to play again for at approx 4 weeks but we will update you on progress.  During this time, our Junior coaching with Richard Hopp is moving to Tillington.  Richard will communicate further details with the Autumn coaching bookings, coming out shortly.

We need to undertake these works before there is a risk of frosts, and between the Summer and Winter league fixtures to ensure we can continue to field teams in the East Hampshire LTA leagues. The courts will initially be a tarmac grey marked with white lines as they require a period of several months before they can be painted.  The contractor will return in the Spring to fully paint the courts.

We have experience from Fernhurst this year of an identical resurfacing and noticed tennis balls quickly grey and look dirty from the new surface before it is weathered-in.  We will ensure there is a supply of good used match balls on the courts so you don’t spoil your personal supply.  The courts will be grippy, more permeable and fully playable immediately on re-opening. There will be new nets and fencing with the resurfacing so we cannot wait to experience what will effectively be brand new courts.

A revised date for your diary – the annual awards presentation and social will be on Sat 14th October in the evening. (more details to follow).
